Mitey Mites

The EHC Mitey Mite program is an inclusive introduction to hockey with an emphasis on fun. The goal is for the kids to have a great time and develop a lifelong love of the sport while learning fundamental hockey skills and experiencing what it means to be part of a team. We have a wonderful group of on-ice coaches and coordinators, many of whom grew up playing hockey at the club from a young age and others who are seasoned coaches and accomplished hockey players.
We generally welcome children who can get up under their own power in full protective equipment after falling on the ice. We also welcome kids born after 2020 if they can get up on their own and are self-sufficient on the ice. For beginners and less experienced skaters, we suggest participating in the Learn to Skate sessions on Mondays and Fridays, run by the Figure Skating program, to quickly gain confidence and skills.
Here are some key logistical details for Mitey Mite families:

  1. Schedule: Mitey Mite ice times are generally on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The weekday slot on Thursdays from 3:15PM-4:00PM is reserved for the Introduction to Hockey for Mitey Mites. The schedule is subject to change due to holidays, special events, etc., so please refer to the weekly schedule.
  2. Sun-Rise Power Skating: Our weekly Tuesday, 6:30AM-7:45AM power skating sessions provide valuable ice time to help Mitey Mite players improve their skating technique and build skill and confidence. Full pads and sticks are required.
  3. Helmet Identification: Please clearly mark your child's helmet with their first name using hockey tape.
  4. Neck Guard Requirement: ALL Mitey Mites must wear a neck guard this season. Players without one will not be allowed on the ice.
  5. On-ice Coaching Opportunities: Parent volunteers are welcome and encouraged. Older siblings are not allowed on the ice during Mitey Mite sessions.

We are excited for another fun Mitey Mite season. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
